Review // NARS Bord De Plage palette

Warning! Impulse buy alert! I was working on a fashion show recently, and saw one of the other Makeup artists using this palette. It just looked so amazing, so here we are. I wanted to add another highlight to my kit for fair skin, plus some more shades of bronzer, so really I feel like this is necessary (cough). IMG_9755NARS is one of those brands that you can rely on to be good. They have lots of cult products, including their Laguna bronzer which is included in this palette. Their prices are pretty steep, so getting this for NZ$93 is a steal considering the Laguna bronzer retails at $63 alone. Their compacts are always flawless and chic, as well as good quality. I love the packaging of this palette, it’s a great size for travelling with, plus it has a huge mirror and clips down tight. IMG_9761Onto the goodness inside. There are 4 highlighters which to my knowledge, are all limited edition. Meaning I best not fall too deeply in love with any of them! You also get two bronzers from the NARS collection which are best sellers.

Rivage is a pale champagne colour, perfect for fair skin but can also be used as an extra pop of brightness over the other highlights.

Crique is a pale gold colour, good for light skin tones. This is pretty similar to Becca Opal so it’s probably my favourite highlight shade in this palette.

Laguna is the lighter bronzer in the palette, and is fairly neutral in tone. It’s a great matte shade for bronzing and contouring in one.

Corniche is a light gold with an almost pink undertone, for fair to light skin tones.

Galet is a true gold perfect for light to medium skin tones.

Casino bronzer is also fairly neutral in tone, but sways slightly more towards the warmer side.IMG_9749From L-R top to bottom: Rivage, Crique, Laguna, Corniche, Galet, Casino.

I didn’t realize when I purchased this palette that the highlights are water activated, meaning you get a much bigger beam if you spray your brush with water or setting spray first. I have used them dry too which gives a much more subtle glow (my swatches are without water). The highlights all give a beautiful radiance and with the water activation look glossy which I just love.

The bronzers are really smooth and blend into the skin easily for a natural look. I love that you can build these up slowly, and since they are fairly neutral they add dimension without any orange look. I can see why these are best sellers, they are just effortlessly good.

I think this palette is 100% worth the money. The powders are all beautiful and give a real editorial chic look. I love having variety at my fingertips, and it doesn’t hurt that the whole package is stunning!
