beauty. make up revolution stick foundation

After spending 6 glorious weeks in Europe summer, my body is officially 2 shades darker than my face. No exaggeration, it looks a bit ridiculous. Ah, what we go through to prevent premature ageing! So, I HAD to buy a new foundation. I have never tried anything from Makeup Revolution (otherwise known as simply Revolution), and since it was so cheap in the UK, I thought I couldn’t possibly leave without getting a few things.IMG_9661The Fast base stick foundation comes in 18 shades, with loads of undertones. It claims to leave a dewy finish that can be blended in with either fingers, a sponge or a foundation brush. It retails at £5 (about NZ$10) which is extremely affordable. You get 0.218oz of product which is quite a bit less than a standard liquid foundation at 1.0oz. It’s also vegan and cruelty free, which is always great to see from an affordable brand.IMG_9665I chose the shade F8 which is for medium skin tones with a yellow undertone. I really like the colour as it isn’t too yellow, and matches my tan well. On application it definitely sticks to the claim of melting into the skin. I have used stick foundations before that were dryer and alot harder to work in, whereas this one easily blends in with my synthetic stippling brush without leaving streaks or being patchy.IMG_9666 The coverage is medium to full, so you can get a great base for everyday looks or more glam looks. The finish is satin-dewy, and I personally like to spray my face with a rose water spray before blending to keep it more on the dewy side.

For a $10 foundation, it lasts incredibly well. Given it is not a matte foundation, it’s ability to keep oil under control is very impressive.  I use a translucent powder on my t-zone, and that is enough to last me the day. The finish is just beautiful, and I find all my powder and cream products work like a dream with this foundation, so the end result is flawless! Even though you get a smaller amount of product than normal, I find I only need one swipe on each area of my face to get a good coverage, so the product actually goes quite far. Overall, I am in love with this product (and the price!) and will definitely be repurchasing when it runs out!
